W&H Week of Fun Day 1 & 2

Image
Saturday was day 1 of Warnie and Hails Week of Fun. Our plan for the day was to drive down to Atlanta, eat at the Varsity, and go to the Braves game. We were kind of bummed that we wouldn’t have time to do much in the city because we’ve never really been.  We got started at about 7 am. I had to make a few stops before we left because would it really be a trip with me if I had everything I needed before we leave? The answer is no. I always forget to get something that we end up having to go to the store to get. This time I even forgot to buy something that was ON the list (it was sunscreen). But anyways we got my stuff, got some Joe Beans and got on the road. About an hour into the trip we stopped to get some breakfast at Bojangles and when I walked in I saw some of our friends from home that I hadn’t seen in a while. It was funny to see them there of all places.  Once we got on the road we realized that we were going to get to Atlanta about three hours earlier than we had orig

22 Things I've Learned by 22

Hey y'all! As my birthday is quickly approaching I thought it would be fun to write about some things I have learned over the years. It really hasn't hit me yet that it's almost my birthday. Normally I'm talking about it for weeks before it happens, but this time everyone else is reminding me it's almost my birthday. I'm really excited about this year because it's my "Taylor Swift year" aka I'm turning 22. Taylor Swift is my absolute favorite so I am thrilled to have a song to jam to for a whole year. Recently she did a piece with Elle Magazine about the 30 things she learned before her 30th birthday. I guess you could say she inspired me to write about the 22 things I have learned by 22. Say what you mean. There is no need to complicate things with lies and miscommunication. "Say what you mean and mean what you say" -Dr. Seuss  Hang out with your family. Planning Warnie and Hails Week of Fun

Image
For those of you that know me, you know that I love traveling around the United States. At 21 years of age I have been to 26 states already. My qualifications for "visiting a state" are buying something and using the bathroom at least once in each state. I will admit a few of the states I counted are states where I just stayed the night in a hotel on the way to another destination, but I met my qualifications so I will count it for now. In addition to visiting the states, my dad and I are trying to visit all the Major League Baseball stadiums. To accomplish this goal of ours we have been taking trips the past couple of years to go to baseball games. I have proclaimed these trips as Warnie and Hails Week of Fun, and let me tell you they are so fun. So far we have been to 15 stadiums together, and we will hit three more on our spring break trip next week. The way the trips generally work are I do majority of the planning and my dad picks the lodging and provides all the fin

College Was Not the Best Three Years of my Life

Image
Okay y'all, here it is: College sucks a lot sometimes. Some of you may be thinking, "doesn't she mean four years?" I graduated college in three years because I got my full associate's degree when I was in high school. I really should have graduated in two and a half years, but because I was a chemistry major some of my classes were only offered in the spring. Going the full third year gave me the opportunity to live with some of my best friends in a dorm with a Starbucks in the first floor, work some more with my favorite lab partner, and take some classes just for the heck of it. Almost anyone you ask will tell you something along the lines of how college will be the best years of your life. But from my experience, I would never tell anyone that. Of course I had those conversations when visiting home "Hailey, how's college?" "Oh, it's good!" And I usually didn't say much else past that. Don't get me wrong, I loved my scho

Honesty

Honesty. A big ole H-word we all encounter on a daily basis. We've all heard the saying "honesty is the best policy" and I would agree that honesty really is the way to go. I have been a tell-it-how-it-is person pretty much all my life. I was one of those girls that got called mean because I would tell the truth when asked (and probably sometimes when nobody wanted to hear it, too). Which brings us to another saying we've all heard, "the truth hurts." Heck ya it does, but that doesn't mean we should avoid telling the truth. I am the worst liar I know. Someone I don't know could look at me and tell I'm lying within five minutes of meeting me. Not only do I not like to lie, it is something I don't think I could ever be successful at. And if you ask me, that is a huge blessing. I remember the one time I did lie successfully. Don't worry, it was a harmless lie. When I was a senior in high school I was having a hard time deciding whether o

Let's Do This Thing

I have had this crazy idea of starting a blog for several years now, however, something always stopped me from actually doing it. Recently though, I had been really feeling it. So of course I did what any person does when they want to do something new: look it up on the internet. Let me just tell you, those "How to Start a Blog in Five Easy Steps" articles are terrifying. So many of the tutorials seemed more like rules that you had to follow if you ever wanted anyone to read your blog. The articles would say stuff like, "if you don't have a niche people won't know what they're going to see so they just won't read it" or "if you don't have a focused idea you won't be able to keep writing articles that are interesting to your readers." Not to mention, they all talked about to make money from writing your blog. And I just thought to myself whoah, maybe this isn't for me after all.  But then it hit me, I don't really care if pe
